The Guild of Wild Belonging

A space for mutual care, non-monetary exchange, and post-capitalist connection—with Mixed Faces Wild Spaces at its heart.Mixed Faces Wild Spaces (MFWS) is a movement for people living under the weight of systems like racism, ableism, classism, transphobia, xenophobia, and more.We offer liberatory outdoor programs rooted in healing, connection, and land-based belonging—sustained by sliding-scale services and a deep commitment to collective care. All of this moves toward a larger vision: a land-based sanctuary where people are free to be whole.

Why the Guild Exists

Mixed Faces Wild Spaces was never just about programs—it has always been about people. And we’ve been deeply moved by how many of you have asked...🌳“How can I support this work?”🌳“How can I participate if I don’t have funds?”🌳“What can we build together that feels good for everyone?”The Guild of Wild Belonging is our answer. It’s not a program. It’s not a payment plan. It’s a living, relational ecosystem where we co-create ways of giving and receiving outside the logic of capitalism. A middle space between giving and receiving. A bridge between the needs of this movement and the abundance that lives in community. This is our first form of the Guild—a pilot space where people can connect directly with MFWS through mutual aid, skills exchange, and care-based relationships.Whether you’re offering labor, creative support, healing care, or something else—or seeking access to MFWS experiences—this is a way to enter into a reciprocal relationship that centers trust, consent, and joy. This is how we become a community in practice, not just in vision.

The Guild Now: A Pilot Rooted in MFWS

Right now, the Guild is a container held by MFWS. It’s a soft place to land for community members who want to:🌳Offer support to MFWS in ways that align with their capacity and values🌳Access MFWS offerings through mutual exchange, not money🌳Begin practicing what a post-capitalist care economy could feel likeThis pilot version helps us learn what feels good, what’s sustainable, and how to tend relationships instead of transactions.

Where We’re Going: A Local Mycelial Network

In time, the Guild will grow into a wider network—connecting not just individuals to MFWS, but community to community. We envision a future where:🍄A participant in an MFWS retreat can exchange offerings with a local BIPOC-led farm🍄A community partner offering healing work can be supported by Guild members🍄A local teacher or herbalist finds their people—and their needs met—through this shared ecosystemThis Guild will become the connective force many of us have been looking for: one not dependent on formal institutions or capitalist contracts, but on shared values, aligned care, and relational trust.

How to Join the Guild

This is an invitation—not a transaction. You don’t need to prove anything or have it all figured out. You just need to be willing to be in relationship. There are two paths into The Guild:1. The Path of Nourishing the Guild
Offer your care, skills, labor, resources, or creative support to MFWS in a way that feels good to you.
→ “I want to support MFWS in a way that honors my values, skills, or resources.”
You might offer:
🌳Time or labor (helping with events, transportation, gear setup)
🌳Skills (graphic design, web help, photography, cooking, healing, etc.)
🌳Material donations (outdoor gear, food, art supplies, zines)
🌳Space or infrastructure (event space, carpool support, printing access)
🌳Financial gifts or sustaining support
We believe all forms of care are sacred. Let us know what feels good for you to offer—we’ll find a meaningful way to receive it.2. The Path of Receiving with Reciprocity
Access MFWS offerings through mutual, non-monetary exchange based on your needs, capacity, and what you’re open to sharing.
→ “I would love to access MFWS offerings and am open to a mutually nourishing exchange.”
You might be:
🌳Seeking access to a retreat, service, or experience
🌳Wanting to engage without the means to pay at this time
🌳Willing to offer something of care, time, or skill in return
You don’t need to have anything “figured out”—just a willingness to be in mutual relationship and let us co-create the exchange with you.

How It All Works (The Basics)

🌳 You’ll fill out a short, gentle form (~5–15 mins)🌳 We’ll connect with you to explore what a care-based exchange could look like🌳 Together, we’ll co-create a Wild Agreement—a simple, flexible document naming what we’re each offering, and how we’ll stay in touch🌳Some exchanges are one-time. Others may grow into something seasonal, ongoing, or beautifully unexpected.🌳 You can always pause, shift, or revisit the relationship. Seasons change—and so do we.🌼 A Note on Consent, Capacity & Care
We understand that capacity shifts. You can change your level of engagement at any time. Just like the seasons, our needs and offerings ebb and flow.
This is a space of non-extractive care, boundary-honoring collaboration, and joyful mutuality. You don’t owe us your labor, and you’re never “behind.” The Guild is here when you’re ready..

Values of the Guild

1. Everyone has something to offer2. No one is “too much” or “not enough”3. We move at the speed of trust, not urgency4. Relationships are tended—not left behind5. Ease, access, and mutuality belong to all of us—not just those with moneyMFWS Community Agreements:1. Love, Joy, and Gratitude
We choose joy, gratitude, and love as acts of resistance and pathways to liberation. We welcome awe, creativity, culture, art, music, and expression into our space.
2. Care and Compassion
We lead with compassion, empathy, generosity, and care. We approach each other with the desire to understand and to be understood.
3. Listening and Sharing
We listen actively—with openness and without interrupting. We listen to understand, not to judge or respond. We speak from our own experiences using “I” statements. Silence is welcome, and we know it doesn’t always mean agreement.
4. Take Space, Make Space
We are all learners and teachers. We practice sharing airtime and making space for those who may be less heard. We stay aware of our privileges and how they shape the room.
5. Nonviolence and Accountability
We have zero tolerance for violence, including verbal threats, bullying, harassment, relational aggression, or harm. We honor the difference between intent and impact, and when harm happens, we commit to repair, not shame. We “call in” with care and can ask for support from facilitators when needed. We are all responsible for upholding these agreements.
6. Consent and Boundaries
We respect physical, emotional, and energetic boundaries. We check in before discussing potentially triggering topics (e.g., sexual violence, racism, death), before physical contact, and before observing or photographing others. Consent is ongoing and can be withdrawn at any time.
7. Access and Safety
We are conscious of physical, emotional, and cultural accessibility. We practice COVID care, respect mobility and pain needs, and refrain from using ableist language. If a space or resource is meant for disabled folks, we do not use it unless it’s ours to use.
8. Presence with Flexibility
We invite you to come as you are and take care of yourself as needed. We respect people arriving late or taking space away when necessary. We trust in the flow of the event and name ahead of time when substance use will or will not be part of the space.
9. Confidentiality and Trust
What is shared here stays here. What is learned here leaves here. We hold each other’s stories with care and do not share them outside the space.
10. Self-Reflection and Growth
We value authenticity, bravery, and the willingness to be wrong. We learn from mistakes, commit to ongoing reflection, and believe that healing and transformation are possible.
11. Abolitionist Justice and Collective Care
We move toward a world where justice is rooted in care, not punishment. In this space, we practice transformative and restorative justice: we address harm with honesty and empathy, and we work toward restoration and redemption, not exclusion.
